ALL LIVES MATTER VS BLACK LIVES MATTER
What is the difference between All Lives Matter vs Black Lives Matter?
All lives matter (ALM) is a a slogan made to contradict the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. ALM is normally made as a counter argument against BLM.
What is wrong with saying "All Lives Matter?"
All lives do indeed matter, but saying "Black Lives Matter" does not mean only Black people matter but rather give the race attention against the violence and racism they face. Many people say "All Lives Matter" because they believe that because other races also face racism, they deserve recognition. I do believe that other races deserve recognition for the oppression they face; the religion Islam, North and South Asians and Hispanics etc continue to be discriminated against to this day. The more appropriate thing to do to bring attention to these minorities is to make a movement specifically for each group making sure not to say "Muslim Lives Matter" etc because that will contradict the already existing movement; Black Lives Matter. The last thing we want to do is try to compete for attention as we are all equal despite our race, skin color, sexuality, ethnicity, gender and age. All Lives Matter has the right intention, but the wrong concept.

A very common analogy to understand this concept is: All Lives Matter is like a child bleeding and needing a band-aid. Are you going to give a band aid to all of the children? No, you're going to prioritize the one that is bleeding.

How to confront someone who preaches "All Lives Matter"
People who say "All Lives Matter" normally have the right intention but are ignorant to what are really saying. Explaining to them that every single person's life does better is the first place to start. Both of you are agreeing on a completely fair and morally correct statement. After discussing the statement, talk about how much oppressed black people are, most people are knowledgeable of this. Lastly, try to discuss how All Lives Matter contradicts Black Lives Matter, you can explain how the slogan was just made to overpower Black Lives Matter. People who are generally educated will understand this concept quickly, others may take longer or completely disagree. Nevertheless, it is important that we try and leave this concept to as many people as possible because the more people we have striving for equality for Black people, the closer we are to ending racism.
